The Agenda: In local government this week | Port City Daily (1)

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. —Every Monday Port City Daily will share upcoming government meetings around the tri-county region. If there’s an item of public interest, we’ll include that below the listed meeting, too.

Monday, June 10

The Brunswick County Planning Board will meet at 4 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia. The agenda includes:

  • A proposed development for 304 residential units on 87 acres of land on NC 211.
  • Rezoning of 138 acres near Shallotte from low density commercial and medium density residential to low density commercial.
  • Rezoning of 15 acres on Ocean Highway East from rural residential to low density commercial.

Kure Beach Town Council meets at 6 p.m. in council chambers to go into closed session regarding a personnel matter. It also will hold a public hearing on its 2024-2025 budget; the public is welcome to comment. The agenda is here.

Tuesday, June 11

The Belville Board of Adjustment will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers at Town Hall, 63 River Road. An agenda was not posted by press.

New Hanover County Board of Elections will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Longleaf Room at the Board of Elections Office, 1241 A Military Cutoff Road. The board will conduct regular business and discuss election-related matters. There is limited in-person seating available and for people who cannot attend in-person, you can call in: 1-336-218-2051 and enter ID 775 144 979 followed by pound (#). Or the meeting will be livestreamed here.

Pender County Board of Elections will meet at 6 p.m. at 807 S. Walker St. in Burgaw. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Pender County Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 11 a.m. in the Dr. Katherine Herring Resource Center 798 Us Highway 117 S. The meeting is to consider adding schools to be covered under the CEP Program. Meetings are livestreamed here.

Carolina Beach Town Council will meet at 6 p.m. The agenda includes event and manager’s updates, among other city business. It can be livestreamed here.

Wednesday, June 12

A public hearing will be given on the formal budget adoption for the New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority’s 2024-2025 budget at 5 p.m. at New Hanover County Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive, Meeting Room 136. Citizens interested in speaking at this public hearing may sign up prior to the hearing from 4:30 p.m. until 5 p.m. The hearing will begin promptly, followed by adoption of the 2024-2025 budget.

Navassa Planning Board meets at 6:30 p.m. at 338 Main St. An agenda was not posted by press.

Topsail Beach Board of Commissioners meet at 6 p.m. The agenda includes a public hearing on the 2024-2025 budget, a discussion and update on the TISPC Charter and various department updates. The meeting takes place at 820 S. Anderson Ave.

Thursday, June 13

The Brunswick County Zoning Board of Adjustment will meet at 6:00 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Chambers at 30 Government Center Drive in Bolivia. An agenda was not posted by press.

The City of Southport’s Board of Alderman will meet at 6 p.m in the Southport Community Building, 223 E. Bay Street. Meetings are livestreamed here. An agenda was not posted by press.

The Wilmington Historic Preservation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. in city hall, 102 N. Third St. Meetings are livestreamed here. The agenda includes:

  • Evidentiary hearing for 410 Orange St. Construction of Accessory Structure
  • 311 Mcrae St. New Residential In-fill Construction
  • 323 South Fourth St. Major Landscaping and Fence on Corner Lot

The New Hanover County Commissioners will meet at 4 p.m. conference room 138-139 in the NHC Government Center, 230 Government Center Drive to go over its agenda for its June 17 meeting.
