The summers are here and soon, the vacations will also arrive. Most of you must have already started planning the next family trip. Whether you are going on vacation within or outside India, we have some iPhone travel tips to share with you.

From checking your flight status in Messages to using emoji stickers to make fun 'postcards' by layering different emojis, these tips are handy for any iPhone user before the travel season kicks in. Let's check out these cool travel hacks!

1. Planning

If you're planning an international trip and need a passport photo, your iPhone has some handy camera features to help you take passport-size pictures without professional assistance. Here's how:

- Take your photo on your iPhone in good lighting, ensuring nothing is covering your face, and your phone is set to Light Mode.

- Tap and hold on the subject of your image to lift it from the background. Then, tap “Copy” and paste the image into a new note in the Notes app.

- In the Notes app, take a screenshot of the note, and open it in Photos.

- Tap “Edit” and then “Crop.” Select the rectangular icon in the top right and choose your desired aspect ratio.

- Shift the shot around to ensure you’re fully in frame. Tap “Done,” and your new ID photo is ready for upload."

2. Packing List

- Open the Reminders app and select or create a packing list.

- Tap the three dots in the top right corner, then choose “Save as Template.”

- Rename the template and tap “Save.”

- To use the template for a new trip, tap the overlapping squares icon, select the template, rename it if needed, and tap “Create.”

- Open the new list and make any modifications you need.

To add a location reminder: Tap the Location button in the Reminder. Choose one of the options or tap “Custom” to add your own location. Decide if you want to be notified when arriving or leaving, and set the reminder area perimeter. You can also set a due date, add a tag, or attach a photo.

3. Create and Share Curated Guides For a New City

- Before your trip, create and customise a guide in Apple Maps. You can create a special guide with all your favorite places and share it with your friends. Plus, you can download the maps to use them even without internet. To make a guide, go to Apple Maps and tap "New Guide" in the My Guides section. Give your guide a name, add a photo, and tap "Create."

- Adding places is easy – just tap the plus sign, type the place, tap again to add it, and then tap "Done." To share your guide, tap your picture, select "Guides," choose your guide, and tap the Share icon. With these steps, you'll have your perfect travel guide ready in no time.

4. Download maps to use offline

iPhone users on iOS 17 and later can use offline maps. uou can use Maps for information and navigation even when you don't have a Wi-Fi or cellular connection.

- To save a detailed map of an area, search for the name of the area to save for offline use.

- Tap “Download.“

- Then you can adjust the size of the area on the map to optimise storage.

- Tap “Download“ again to begin your download.

5. Travelling

A) Share an AirTag: While travelling, share your AirTag with family or friends so they can track luggage or other important items.

- First add an AirTag as one of your registered items. Bring your AirTag near your iPhone, then tap “Connect“ and give it a name.

- Then, register it with your Apple ID.

- nder “Items,“ tap the item you want to share, scroll down to “Share This AirTag,“ tap “Add Person,“ and the person will receive an invitation on their phone. You can share an item with up to 5 other people.

B) Emergency

- Ahead of an upcoming trip, set up your Medical ID and add emergency contacts.

- Open the Health app and tap your profile picture or initials in the top right corner.

- Select “Medical ID,“ tap “Edit,“ then add essential information like your date of birth, blood type, medical conditions, allergies, and more.

- Add emergency contacts by scrolling to “Emergency Contacts“ and tapping “Add.“ If you call an emergency number, your iPhone will notify these contacts and share your location with them, if enabled.

Please note that If you call emergency services, your iPhone can automatically share your Medical ID with first responders. You can also enable to setting to make your Medical ID accessible from a Locked screen by tapping Emergency, then Medical ID.

C) Check In

- Whether you're travelling alone or with family, Check In is a helpful tool. It tells your loved ones when you've reached your destination safely. If something unexpected happens and you stop moving, your chosen person gets details like where you were last seen and how much battery your phone has left.

- To use Check In, just open a chat in Messages and tap the plus sign.

- Then, select "More" and "Check In."

- Next, add details like when you want the message to be sent – either when you arrive or after a certain time.

- Once set up, tap send. Please note that both devices need to have iOS 17 or later for this to work.

D) Translator

- When traveling abroad, you can use the Translate app on your iPhone as your own personal interpreter. Select the languages, enter text or tap the microphone icon, and speak — the app will automatically translate for you.
